1) CHAKRA BALANCING AND WELLBEING By Andye Murphy
Meditation isn’t always for the purpose of moving into quiet states of stillness. We can use meditation practice as a way to check in with ourselves and better direct our energy. Guided meditations are an awareness tool that allows us to be in conscious, present creation with
ourselves.
What Are Chakras?
Chakras are points where the energetic and physical bodies meet. Imagine chakras like wheels constantly in motion. If these wheels are “stuck,” energy cannot move and we might feel out of whack. Located in the subtle body, there are hundreds of chakras, although the primary seven from the Muladhara system are where the most focus is given.These main seven chakras are:
* Root – base of spine – Muladhara – red * Sacral – below the naval – Svadisthana – orange * Solar Plexus – above navel – Manipura — yellow * Heart – heart, center of chest – Anahata — green * Throat – throat – Visuddha —blue * 3rd eye — at forehead between the eyes — Ajna — indigo * Crown— top of head — Sahasrara — violet
Chakra Color Variations
This modern-day chakra color system comes from the cover of a 1977 out-of-print book by Christopher Hills. If this system works for you, go with it. However,
if you discover that your root chakra is another color, go with that. When I visualize my root chakra color as red, for instance, I feel antsy and uncomfortable. When I place gold there, I feel peaceful and relaxed. Play with the colors and find that which supports you. It’s also perfectly fine if you don’t see or experience any color at all.
Chakras and the Spine
We need to understand the physical importance of our spine, which is a framework for the nervous system, while giving structure to the body. The spine is also an important facet of spiritual health — many traditions regard the spine with significance, as it is the main channel through which all subtle energies flow.
The spine holds important codes for our soul’s potential, as our latent DNA/RNA pulsates within. When we learn to be in tune with our spinal health, a wealth of information is available, which can help us better masters ourselves.Sitting with a straight spine
is crucial, but it should be exercised at your own level of comfort. When we lengthen the spine, it is easier to connect with cosmic and Earth energies. Do not make yourself uncomfortable by trying to maintain a “straight spine.” Any preoccupation with form will only distract and nullify any healing effects.
Visualization
Seeing chakras is a marvelous gift, but not something all are able to do. When we use the word “visualize,” imagine feeling and experiencing, rather than seeing. Psychic senses are elusive, and many psychics are unable to “see,” but use other methods of perception instead.Feel the color, shape, and texture of each chakra. Engage other senses to navigate, and don’t get hung up on the word “visualize.”
Chakra Meditation
This is an easy, accessible way to move energy and connect to the subtle body.
How to Align Your Chakras with Meditation Sit comfortably with your
spine lengthened and begin to breathe deeply but gently. Close your eyes to bless yourself with total presence during this meditation.
Imagine a brown (or black) ball of energy at your feet. Breathe with it and allow it to expand to the size of a beach ball. This is the Earth Star Chakra and will begin to help you pulsate with the heartbeat of the Earth.
Moving into your body, bring your attention to your Root Chakra. For some of us, this is at the perineum, for others its between the thighs. Feel and trust your own way!
See the Root Chakra as a red glowing orb. Feel with it gradually and expand, it to the size of a beach ball.
Bringing your attention to your Sacral Chakra, feel the warm orange glow, and expand or decrease it to match the size of the other two.
Continue moving up your body to the Solar Plexus Chakra and allow the warmth of the sun to charge this yellow chakra. Expand its size to be in alignment with those
already balanced below.
Feel the inviting green of your Heart Chakra and breathe into it until it too is a consistent size.
Bring yourself to the blue of your Throat Chakra, breathing with it until its size matches those below.
The 3rd Eye Chakra will emit an indigo-colored light, deeper and more powerful than the blue of your throat. This one may take a bit more care and patience or, in the case of highly sensitive people, it may be noticeably out of whack with the others. Be patient as it comes into alignment with the other chakras.
Drifting upward to the Crown Chakra, feel the vibrant violet that resides there. Effortlessly allow its size to match that of the others.
The platinum (white or gold) light will be our final place of attention. Residing about six inches above the Crown Chakra, this chakra connects us to the galactic realms, giving us a direct connection with our deeper soul. Be with it until it too reaches the
size of the others.
With all chakras balanced, thank yourself for this loving attention you have just shared. Commit yourself to be more present with these energies.
Gently open your eyes, and carry on with the ways of feeling more of yourself present in the world!
As you deepen your chakra meditations, you will experience more of your truth. Befriend the wisdom of each energy center, and allow yourself to embody if even for a moment, the frequency you’re perceiving. What may initially be a simple exercise could form the basis of a whole new path of experience.

2) WHAT TO EAT TO BOOST ENERGY AND RELIEVE STRESS
How do you deal with stress- could you need a little energy boost? Try these diet changes to see how you feel. Energy Boosters
Breakfast: Eat a couple of boiled eggs and a bowl of oatmeal topped with a sprinkle of cinnamon. Roll pinto beans, melted cheese, and salsa in a whole grain tortilla. Blend a smoothie made with whey protein powder, milk (nut, soy, rice, or cow’s), a pinch of cinnamon, and fresh or frozen fruit. Munch a couple of rye crackers while sipping the smoothie. Recent research suggests that whey protein powder contributes beneficially to blood sugar control.
Lunch: Put
turkey and Swiss cheese on whole wheat bread, and enjoy with carrot sticks on the side. Eat smoked salmon, rye crackers, and a tossed salad.
Dinner: Roast chicken breasts, and serve with skin-on mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli. Stir-fry shrimp with veggies, and serve over brown rice.
Snack: Eat a handful of almonds along with a piece of fruit. Have cheese sticks, along with a whole grain bagel spread with butter and sprinkled with cinnamon.
Depression Lifters
Breakfast: Mix yogurt with fresh fruit and whey protein powder for a smoothie. Add flaxseed oil, which is rich in essential fatty acids, to your morning bowl of muesli.
Lunch: Make a tryptophan-rich grilled cheese sandwich on whole grain bread. Put a tuna fish sandwich in your lunch box along with a handful of walnuts.
Dinner: Roast chicken, turkey, or other poultry, and add a baked potato and tossed salad as side dishes. Grilled salmon with wild
rice provides a healthy dose of omega-3 fatty acids. Grass-fed meats, which are higher in omega-3 fatty acids than grain-fed meats, can become hamburgers on sprouted wheat buns. Serve pot roast with carrots and parsnips. Or enjoy buffalo steak kabobs with brown rice.
Snack: Spread cottage cheese on rye crackers. Melt cheese on blue tortilla chips, and daub with salsa. Grab a handful of almonds and raisins. Slather peanut butter on sliced apples. Or enjoy the evening skin-on baked potato with a pat of butter and pinch of sea salt.
Stress Reducers
Breakfast: Try a bowl of unsweetened muesli with a sliced banana and a touch of maple syrup, plus a couple of boiled eggs, a few breakfast sausages, or scrambled tofu on the side.
Lunch: Top a spinach salad with grilled chicken. On the side, have a cup of tomato soup and a whole grain roll. For dessert, eat an apple.
Dinner: Make bean-and-cheese enchiladas with whole grain
tortillas. Top with a generous scoop of guacamole and a tomato-based salsa. On the side, have shredded cabbage salad with cilantro and cumin vinaigrette. Finish with a slice of fresh melon.
Snack: Top a sliced peach with a handful of macadamia nuts. Enjoy almond butter slathered on a crusty piece of rye bread.
3) 7 SIMPLE WAYS TO UNCLOG YOUR ARTERIES NATURALLY By Sayer Ji, We all want to live a long life, but did you know eating these simple foods has been proven scientifically to prevent and in some cases reverse the #1 cause of death in the modern world?
At present, atherosclerosis (the progressive narrowing and clogging up of the arteries) is the driving process behind cardiovascular mortality, the #1 cause of death on this planet, at approximately18 million deaths annually. A complex process, involving autoimmunity, infection, dietary incompatibilities, and many known and unknown factors, it is – despite
conventional medical opinion – entirely preventable, and in some cases reversible.
Here is the peer-reviewed, published research proving that fact:
B Vitamins – yes, something as simple as adding a source of B-complex to your regimen can prevent the juggernaut of heart disease from taking your life prematurely. A doubled-blind, randomized study, published in 2005, in the journal Atherosclerosis found that a simple intervention using 2.5 mg folic acid, 25 mg Vitamin B6, and 0.5mg Vitamin B12 for 1 year, resulted in significant reductions in arterial thickness (as measured by intima media thickeness). Even niacin or folic acid alone has been show to have this effect in patients. [Note: Always opt for natural sources of the B-group vitamins, including probiotic supplementation (which produce the entire complement for you), or a whole food extract, versus synthetic or semi-synthetic vitamins which, sadly, predominate on the market today].
Garlic –
as we have documented extensively previously, garlic can save your life. It has been found to regress plaque buildup in the arteries, among many other potentially life-saving health benefits.
Pomegranate – this super healing fruit has been found to regress plaque buildup in the arteries, as well as being demonstrated to provide dozens of validated health benefits, including replacing the function of the mammalian ovary!
Fermented Cabbage – Kimchi, a Korean recipe, which includes fermented cabbage, hot pepper, and various other ingredients, including fermented fish, appears to stall the atherosclerotic process in the animal model. Additionally, strains of good bacteria in kimchi have been found capable of degrading toxic chemicals that can additional bodily harm.
L-Arginine: This amino acid is capable of preventing arterial thickening – up to 24% reduction! -- in the animal model.We have done an extensive literature review on arginine
supplementation and have found that in over 30 studies demonstrating this fact addition to 150 known health benefits, it is capable of addressing the underlying dysfunction associated with cardiovascular disease: endothelial dysfunction, with no less than 20 studies proving this fact.
Turmeric (curcumin): the primary polyphenol in the Indian spice turmeric known as curcumin has been found to be an excellent cardioprotective, with over 30 studies demonstrating this fact. One study found that curcumin prevented damage to the arteries associated with blockage (neointima formation). We've discussed turmeric's cardiovascular health benefits in greater depth in an article comparing it to aspirin here.
Sesame Seed: probably one of the most underappreciated super foods on the planet, sesame seed, which we have shown is as effective as Tylenol for arthritic pain, may be an excellent cardioprotective substance, ideally suited for preventing the progression of
atherosclerosis. One animal study found it was capable of preventing atherosclerosis lesion formation. Another human study found that eating sesame seed paste can reduce blood markers of cardiovascular disease.
This is a small sample of evidence-based natural interventions for cardiovascular disease prevention and/or regression. We have a much larger set of studies on over 200 natural substances capable of reducing the risk of heart attack and associated cardiovascular diseases. Remember, heart disease is not a natural process, that we must accept as inevitable based on family history of an outdated gene-based model of human disease risk. Our daily decisions, especially regarding what we decide we are going to eat or do not eat, are first and foremost. We can use food as medicine, sloughing off the pharmaceutical industry meme that we need statins to stave off the 'inevitable.' Take back control of your health with nutrition, and realize that food is
the only medicine that will both nourish us and heal our bodies in a way that will produce lasting health.
