White Halo

My mom took this photo of my nephew about 2 weeks ago. My nephew is an absolutely amazing little 2 year old! He is the cutest and sweetest little guy I have ever known. As you can see in this picture, the sun is not behind his head. It is up in the sky. See the shadow from the roof? and he is completely in the shade. My mom was going through the pictures in her phone and was amazed when she saw this! Its like a halo around his head! I'm not sure what this means and would love to know more about it.
